Remix Rehash: Das Racist + CJ Mili + Sammy Bananas +JhnRdn + IAMXL

This is a doozy of a remix post kids. I guess the beginning of summer, or at least what the calendar says is the start of the summer, has put people in a mixy mood cause there has been a mad influx of good noise in my inbox. Put 'em on your shuffle, power up the office soundtrack or add them to your dance mix do whatever you need to fully enjoy them.

D.A.N.C.E. Happens - IAMXL

A full on mix this is. Lengthy and satiating. Should keep you humming well beyond its hour playtime. Bulletproof talent once again on display from Vancouver's DJ darling.

Don Diablo vs The Roots - The Seed 3.0
This classic Roots bit is brought back around with Don Diablo's revival touch. Enough of a new shine without overwhelming the solid and recognizable funk bass lines of the original.

Combination Pizza Hut & Taco Bell - Das Racist
This remix is just ridiculously catchy. Not particularly cerebral but sometimes that's the determining factor.

Nothing 2 Step 2 - Sammy Bananas
It seems Sammy has no planes on slowing down any time soon. He keeps pumping out the killer remixes and appearing at the freshest of parties (FAM[thursdays at Bowery] and The Players Club most recently). And does frequency affect quality? Never!

H.A.L. naw - CJ Mili
The lovely Sheenabeaston brought this track to my attention. A little dirty south always reminds me of hot sticky summer days. CJ Mili does some highly enjoyable pop dancey remixes so if you like this one be sure to check out the rest.

Peak Hour Live MIXX - JhnRdn
And finally in honor of two excellent dance party events going down this weekend in Philly [Making Time Pool Party Saturday afternoon then progress to Live Forever Saturday night at the Barbary] a mix offered up by one of my local favs JhnRdn.

Remix Rehash: Z-Trip + IAMXL + Hotsnax + Flufftronix + Blood Shakes

Z-Trip
I Want You Back (Z-Trip Remix)- Jackson Five
This reappeared courtesy of my iTunes shuffle last week and I remembered how much I like its retro tilt. Me thinks you will as well.

HotSnax
Tears Of A Clown (Hotsnax Remix)- Smokey Robinson
Another retro-ish remix that parallels Z Trips piece.

Mangled Heart (IAMXL mashupGossip vs The Emotions
He does it again. IAMXL is a rabid talent. Buy more of his remixy treasures here Crack4DJs

Flufftronix
Cross The Floor
Fluff is a Philly fav and this track was brought to my attention by the fine MatthewmixveighBlood Shakes
The Fire and The Reason - Fuckbailefunk Remix
Blood Shakes, the Brazilian duo of Zero and Laka) will be releasing their first album Dirty Ghetto Lovers via MySpace Nightlife. This is a nice bit of funky action to get that ball rolling.

Remix Rehash: Buffet Libre + Sammy Bananas + Skinny Friedman

Buffet Libre
Who Will (Buffet Libre Remix) - Patrick Wolf
Here is a delicious bite of remix action from the fellas of Buffet Libre. Its got a nice synth pop coating around group harmonies. Puts a nice spin on Wolf's original.

Sammy Bananas
The Reeling (Sammy Banana Big Choon Mix) - Passion Pit
Waiting out the manic drops of Passion Pit remixes Sammy comes through with a well thought out edit of The Reeling. Establishing a echo-y base to reanimate the stems. It almost has a montage quality build. One of the best PP's remix attempt in my opinion.

Skinny Friedman
Moth Wings (Skinny Friedman DJ Edit)- Passion Pit
Skinny's remapping of Moth's Wings is subtle but whip smart. Rustling the plumage of this track push it in the right spots and making a little more epic. The tiniest changes give it fresh layers and make you really listen hard to both this and the original. Contrast, compare & discuss!

It Just Couldn't Wait

Sometimes I receive new tid bits I'm so in love with I have to numb my desire to write scads about how much I enjoy them and just get them posted to ignite your aural fires. It helps that tonight I am so beyond tired that writing a lot wouldn't be doing anyone any favors.

First Up: Mark Mallman, my fellow Minnesotan and the front man for Ruby Isle, is releasing his new album Invinceable Criminal in August. Here is a track off said album - You're Never Alone In New York as well as the cover of Boy In The Bubble MM did for the Buffet Libre Rewind. Mallman was a frequent visitor to our campus bar/music venue The Cave so I've seen him a bunch and every time is a little more frenetic than the last. I will certainly be hunting him down on his pending tour.

Next up: IAMXL. This man is quickly snatching up property on my summer remix playlist. His take on For The Longest Time has been on consistent replay and now he sends along this batch of wonders. Feist's Mushaboom and Bloody Beetroot's Warp are both given the IAMXL spin. Go here: Crack4dj's.net to find out what other spectacular remixes he's been throwing down.

Ra Ra Remix Rehash

This edition of remix rehash is a mixed bag of soul, pop, electro and awesome. A lot of heat was put on my in box this week and there was absolutely no way I was going to be able to sort through it all. I leave such insanity to my fellow manic dedicated efficient bloggers. However, there were a few that really grabbed my ear.

Gypsy Woman (mike Genius remix)
My current roommate and I are about to part ways and this track reminds we of him a little glammy a little old school a lot of fun. So it is for him I put this out there.

Little Secrets (Pepepe Remix)
There are a gajillion and one Passion Pit remixes out there right now. Some are pretty fantastic and deserve you seeking them out. I like this one because it tosses a little nod to Passion Pit's first EP while still putting a wicked edge on their new track.

Hooligans (Don Diablo's Drive By Disco Mix)
This has a little bit of a eighties pop punchyness to it. Another grand roll with Don Diablo

Make It Funky

This mix hit me so right this week. Coming to me courtesy of Cubik Musik it scratched a soul funk itch that was nagging me all week. I have had this on regular replay all week and has been instrumental in averting some crazy making melt downs.

Dance Dance Dance (Buraka Som Sistema remix)
I really can't tell you how very very much I like this remix. It continues to find me at the absolutely best moments. Load it on your shuffle and let it speak to you as well!

Remix Rehash

There were some delicious remixes that came out of the in-box shake this week. Here they be for your head bopping enjoyment.

DTF(edit)- Terror Dactel
Subdrive made a huge announcement this week. They are starting their own open-source digital record label. This track from Terror Dactel is their first release and if this is the standard I look forward to hearing what else Subdrive pushes out. Read all about it here> Subdrive Media

Two Weeks of Hip Hop - Hood Internet
This tasty little gem comes from Chicago's Hood Internet. I keep finding myself hitting repeat like a coked up lab mouse hitting the feeder bar. Yeah, its that good.

Play That Shit Olli Ple Ft. McNasty -Right Handed Barber Mix
Given the endorsement of IAMXL I was biased from the get go. Its got a bit of jock jams reving that has earn it a spot on the iPod "kick your ass in gear" playlist.

Your English is Good (Tokyo Police Club remix) - K-Os
There are a lot of things that I like about this one. It is dynamic enough to intrigue, smart enough not to over do it and lyrically tight.

Little Miss Star - Forcefield Kids
Forcefield Kids are a Newcastle UK "leftfield/lo-fi UK hip-hop act" whose EP comes out on July 6th. There is a bit of The Streets in their delivery and I'm still undecided whether they'll crawl out from under that comparison but I an certain they deserve your listen.
